exuma
we were gifted by THE nicest and best people in the world a trip to the exumas. the purpose was to get away and relax after the cancer whirlwind. words cannot ever begin to express how appreciative to them i am and also how GORGEOUS this place is. it’s like a dream - every picture i took looked like a post card! exuma is away from the touristy nassau area which i really liked. it is just beautiful.
we stayed at the sandals emerald bay and that resort did not disappoint. it is GORGEOUS. we met some really great people, ate amazing food, drank [quite a few] frozen drinks and just relaxed. when researching exuma i heard something that you must do is swim with the pigs. apparently people travel from all over the world to swim with them so how could i not book that excursion? well, let me tell you… some of the pigs are enormous and a little scary!! but the babies, omg the babies!!!! they are adorable. we also went to an island inhabited by endangered iguanas which was really cool. my favorite part though was stopping at all of the random little islands along the way…. they were breathtakingly beautiful and my pictures do not do it justice whatsoever.
i could not have thought of a better way to celebrate being cancer free. knowing that chapter of my life is behind me… reflecting on how far i have come in paradise with my love was just perfect. we are already planning our next getaway. if cancer taught me anything it is that life is short. take the vacation, eat the cupcake!!! live life before it’s gone…. which i fully intend to do!
